Born in Cheshire, Dr Ruth Mason spent her childhood in Poynton and studied Medicine at Nottingham University. (B.Med Sci . BM BS)
She completed her GP training in the Oxford Deanery working at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and gained diplomas in Family planning, and in Sexual and Reproductive health care
Prior to her move to Guernsey Ruth was a GP partner in Winslow Buckinghamshire for 31 years. One of her two boys have followed her into a career in Medicine. Her particular areas of interest are in female health and contraception and palliative care.
She was a trustee of the local hospice prior to moving to the island and is trustee of WTWT a charity supporting provision of clean water and health in Northern Tanzania
Ruth has a love of the outdoors, gardening, walking, skiing, cycling and is enjoying sea swimming in Guernsey.
