Helen Simpson

Dietitian

Helen has over 30 years dietetic experience working across a wide range of clinical areas.

After qualifying from Kings College in London she began her career as Dietetic Service Manager , UK and overseas for the Armed Forces ( MOD ). Helen then became a Mother and committed her time to raising her family. Her return to work took her into education and she qualified as a teacher in 2011.

Her subsequent role in a school for physically and mentally disabled children combined her clinical and teaching skills in an educational environment. During this time Helen also lectured to dietetic students at Southampton and Surrey University .

After this Helen moved to the NHS as working as a Paediatric Dietitian supporting children with special needs. Alongside this , she worked for Macmillan helping patients through breast cancer treatment.

Helen then moved into Elderly care .Working within a specialist medical team she supported  staff and patients to enhance care within care homes in Hampshire. In conjunction with this she worked with a major care home provide in the UK assisting the chefs in  menu writing  and suitable food delivery . During this time Helen also worked as a Primary care Dietitian in a local GP practice.

In 2021 Helen moved to Guernsey to work at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital as an Oncology and Elderly care Dietitian. She also delivered theory and practical nutrition  sessions at the States of Guernsey Prison.

Helen is passionate about enabling patients to make suitable food choices through education and personal insight. By enabling a patient to understand and explore their individual behaviour , attitude and relationships around food , they are able to make informed choices to improve their health and well – being. Helping individuals to improve their health and their confidence around food in a supportive environment is Helen’s aim and primary care is the perfect place for this to happen.
